Nance Ackerman

Her latest film 'FOUR FEET UP' - an NFB documentary chronicling the life of an eight year old boy living below the poverty line in Nova Scotia - is to be released Fall 09 with her not only in the Director's chair, but acting as writer, editor and music composer. Her films are a reflection of her commitment to using her art to make social change and shatter stereotypes.

She and partner, Jamie Alcorn, have recently opened an exciting new studio in Halifax, Heartstring Productions offering video/music/soundtrack recording and mixing for the film and advertising industry. Ackerman teaches photography workshops in Guatemala during the winter months, and her book, Womankind: Faces of Change Around the World - a collection of portraits and essays of women activists around the world, was released in 2003. <back
